Kumasi, Dec. 4, GNA - Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, former First Lady, on Wednesday defied a heavy downpour to attend an NDC rally at Suame in Kumasi where she addressed supporters and activists of the Party.

They had waited patiently for about six hours when the rains suddenly set in and just as the teeming crowd was about to disperse she arrived, forcing the people into a wild jubilation amidst brass band music and singing of the Party's slogan.

Addressing the crowd, Nana Konadu said the December 7 polls were about the destiny of Ghanaians, saying "the onus lies on us to decide as to whether or not we should continue with the bad governance of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government".

She contended that as a result of the bad leadership by the Government the present generation of the youth could not distinguish between what was wrong and right, saying this had contributed in no small way to erode the moral fibre of the nation. Nana Konadu appealed to the people to show the NPP where 'power lies' by voting it out in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections. She insisted that it behoved the citizenry to vote massively for the NDC so that the nation's integrity could be restored for an accelerated development.

An NDC Government, Nana Konadu said, would evolve pragmatic measures to promote the welfare of women and children in particular since they constituted the most vulnerable group in the society. She said the Party also intended to establish vibrant Youth Training Centres across the country to equip the youth with employable skills, stressing that the centres would also be mandated to counsel them on their career development whilst sensitizing the youth on the dangers inherent in drug abuse.

Mr David Osei-Manu, NDC Parliamentary candidate for Suame Constituency, urged the electorate to vote massively for him on December 7 so that he could improve their living standards.
