Emmanuel Nyamba a trader has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with supplying narcotic drugs without lawful authority.
Nyamba was found to be selling wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp to customers at a Public toilet near the Kaneshie/Dansoman Lorry station in Accra.
Nyamba pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh remanded him to reappear on February 20.
This is to enable the prosecution to conduct a test on the substance.
Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police Kweku Bempah told the court that on January 31, 2017, at about 05:00 hours Mr Ali Kwame, the complainant had information that the accused was selling dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp at Kaneshie-Dansoman Lorry station, near the Public toilet.
He said the complainant at 0600 hours went to the spot and saw accused person selling wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
DSP Bempah said the complainant also pretended to be buying some of the stuff and in the process apprehended the accused person.
When Nyamba was searched 65 wrappers of the dried leaves was found on him.
He said the complainant subsequently called the Police and accused person was escorted to the Kaneshie Police together with the exhibits.
Prosecution said when the Police quizzed Nyamba he said that it was one BA who supplied him the drugs however all efforts to get the said BA had proved futile.
