Nation building requires support of all – Veep

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has described nation building has a “delicate enterprise,” which requires the support and contribution of all.

Such contribution, he said was critical for government in the quest to balance the multiple goals of national development among the economic, social, political, cultural, religious and security interests among others.

He noted that mobilization of the right expertise was critical for nation building, and therefore urged all stakeholders to do more to aid the government in utilizing the available national resources for effective development.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur said this on Thursday when he opened the 2015 National Convention of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI) in Accra.

The Convention, which had the theme, “Renew our days as of old,” was attracted by scores of the group’s members from all the chapters within Ghana and neighboring countries.

According to the Vice President, as government seeks to create an effective balance among all the sectorial interests in the allocation of resources, it was challenging to secure all the expertise to support.

“The problem is how to mobilise the expertise available in this organization to develop the framework for settling the allocation of resources between the various needs, especially the inter-generational one,” he said.

He therefore urged groups such as the FGBMFI which has a network of professionals in diverse areas, to continue to assist in national development.

“You can pool the expertise and skills of your members to objectively analyse and contribute objectively towards governmental initiatives. “There are qualities the nation needs for the preservation of its socio-economic heritage and to offer hope for the next generation,” he stressed.

The Vice President lauded the mission of the FGBMFI, and reminded the group that as the largest fellowship of Christian businessmen and professionals, their expertise, ethical and moral leadership were required for the development of the nation.

He urged them to continue to intercede for peace and unity for the nation, adding that the grace of God was vital for the nation to progress.

According to the Vice President, although there were challenges critical socio-economic challenges facing, the future prospects remain bright for the nation.

He said the remedial measures instituted by the government to grow the economy were deriving good dividends, adding more interventions were being introduced to strengthen the various sectors of the economy.

He said government remained determined to stabilize macro-economic conditions and provide effective solutions to the energy crises in order to realize the positive medium-term prospects and also plan to increase on capital investments to enable faster rates of growth while controlling spending to tackle poverty.

He commended the contribution of the members of the fellowship, and urged the youth to emulate the good examples of Christian business leaders, saying “we need disciplined minds to work for the nation.”

The Vice President urged the people to continue trusting in God who changes the fortunes of the nation and individuals.
