Sunyani, June 9, GNA - Ms. Doris Nana Marfo, 2005 National Best Teacher, has appealed to students to desist from engaging in examination malpractices that is gaining roots in the education sector. She said at in Sunyani at the weekend at the dedication of a 30,000 Ghana cedis house being her prize.

Ms. Marfo said examination malpractices remained a very disturbing development that undermined quality education and the credibility and competence of students.

"Examination authorities react by cancelling examination centres thereby causing inconvenience to future generation of students to write at those centres", she said.

Students found guilty in such malpractices are sometimes banned from writing examinations conducted by the examination body and their future destroyed, as well as the loss of all investment in their education. Ms. Marfo advised students to commit themselves to their books and urged parents to support their children with learning materials and supervise them to study at home.

She appealed to teachers, parents and all stakeholders to co-operate and redouble efforts in ensuring quality education for future generations.

Rev. Dr Owusu Akyeaw, General Overseer of Living Grace Ministry who cut the tape to formally declare open the house, said it was only the favour of God "that brings honour to someone and connects the person to many opportunities".

He urged all to rely on the favour of God to attract His blessings and appealed to teachers to remain committed to their work.
