Months after Anas Aremeyaw Anas dropped his game-changing investigative documentary on football administration in Africa, the dust seems to not have settled.
It has now come to light that powerful people worked in the background to censor the issue.
Ace sports journalist, Mohammed Amin Lamptey in an interview with Happy FM, said that the National Chief Imam tried to prevent the showing of the documentary.
According to the interview reported on by Mynewsgh.com, the Imam thought to intervene because it included two Muslims.
So far, a response has not been heard by the office of Ghana's most powerful Islamic leader.
Amin Lamptey is quoted as saying referencing an article he had earlier written:
“If you read my article, where I spoke about the Islamic perspective, I indicated that before the premiere of the expose, we have this big person who called Anas Aremeyaw Anas that, he wanted to meet him because it’s an issue about two Muslims.
“You can go back to my article to refer to this. I did not mention the person’s name. I said…. I upheld the name. Today I am telling you, that big person is the national Chief Imam Nuhu Sharabutu."
This obviously comes as a surprise because in recent times, the office of the National Chief Imam has invited and encouraged efforts in fighting corruption in Ghana.
Dubbed “Number 12”, the football-related project exposed massive corruption in the Ghanaian game, culminating FIFA suspending the ex-president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi.
