National Security officers cited in fraud

Impeccable information available to Today indicates that some top National Security operatives have abandoned their security duties and instead defrauding unsuspecting Ghanaians with the promise to enlist them in security agencies including the army, police and state institutions like the nursing colleges.

Apparently, students who also wanted to enroll in public nursing colleges were also not spared by these schemers at the national security.

The modus operandi of these National Security operatives, this paper established, was that they connived with top officials of the above state institutions where they milked dry unsuspecting Ghanaians.

Today also found out that monies that were usually collected from prospecting students who wanted to enroll in any of these institutions range from GHC400-GHC2,000.

Probing further, Today established that these National Security elements have created special bank accounts across the country where they asked their victims to deposit the money.

Today’s findings further revealed that these national security operatives normally take advantage of advertisements of enlistment into the army, police etc., to make money from unsuspecting students, who were eager to join any of the state security institutions.

One of such operatives, our investigation uncovered, is one Captain Elias Jesse Larbi

According to sources close to corridors of power, Captain Larbi has an account with the Bantama branch of Ecobank in Kumasi in the Ashanti region where he directs his victims to deposit the money with the intention of helping them to enroll in the said institutions.

And after the monies are deposited into their accounts, he tends to assume a different posture.

These national security elements of which Captain Larbi is a kingpin then turn to be cold towards their victims and sometimes issue all manner of threats.

They also refuse to answer the calls of their victims.

That situation, Today discovered, arose when some applicants after realising they had been defrauded tend to demand for a refund of their money.

But in responding to all these allegations in an interview with Today via telephone on Friday, February 13, 2015 Captain Elias Jesse Larbi denied ever promising or collecting monies from students in the pretext of enlisting them into any of the security agencies in the country.

He however, indicated his willingness to meet with whoever claimed he had defrauded all in name of getting him or her recruited into either any or the nation’s security agencies.
