National Service Personnel Association holds congress in Cape Coast

A two-day congress of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has commenced in Cape Coast.

A new set of executives will be elected during the event.

The congress themed, “Entrepreneurship and Capacity Building; A key to National Development” was chaired by the Krontihemaa of Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Ama Ayeba II.

The chairperson, in her acceptance speech, advised service personnel to effectively discharge their duties to serve the nation and also take advantage of opportunities available to build their capacity, regardless of their financial capacity.

The Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, who was the guest of honour, commended the Ag Executive Director and his deputies for the wonderful management of the Scheme.

He spoke about the time wasted by personnel at various centres during registration and commended the Scheme for the new paperless system which will curb this problem and also enable personnel to manage their time effectively.

The Ag Deputy Executive Director in charge of Administration and Finance, Gifty Oware-Aboagye, narrated the achievements chalked under the leadership of the Ag Executive Director, Mustapha Ussif and his team.

She lamented the sorrowful state of NASPA.

“We had to make conscious efforts to organize a Terminal Congress in Koforidua where the outgoing President was elected.”

She also mentioned that the paperless system would check fraudulent acts and impersonation by scrupulous people who find themselves into the database of the Service.
