Sunyani (B/A), July 20, GNA- Mr. Joseph Frank Kpakpo Allotey, Deputy Director of Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council on Monday launched the National Service week in Sunyani with an assurance that the Government was committed and prepared to complete all abandoned projects.

He noted that the National Service Secretariat (NSS) had for the past years contributed immensely to national development and expressed the Government's commitment to improving the living conditions of service personnel.

This year's celebration is under the theme, "Towards Ghana's Socio-Economic Development - The contribution of National Service Personnel".

Mr. Allotey commended the Secretariat for its contributions to the country's socio-economic progress.

The service personnel clad in their traditional white T-Shirts with the embossed emblem paraded through some of the principal streets of Sunyani amidst singing and dancing.

Mr. Kwabena Akomea Sackey, Regional Coordinator of the Service called on the government to provide incentive packages to those posted to deprived communities.

He explained that such incentives would encourage the personnel to enjoy their stay and work effectively.

The Regional Co-ordinator enumerated a number of problems facing the regional office, including lack of accommodation, financial assistance and other logistics, which he said had resulted in the office abandoning many of its developmental projects in the region.

He appealed to the RCC, District and Municipal Assemblies and business organisations to assist the regional office of the Service.

Mr. Sackey thanked the Dormaa District Assembly for its support in construction of bungalows in the district, which had solved the accommodation problem that faced the service personnel.
