Wasa Akropong (W/R), Feb. 16 Miss Doris Oduro, District Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi East, on Monday said national service is an opportunity for service personnel to serve the country.
She was speaking at a one-day orientation workshop for service personnel posted to the district, which was organised by the district secretariat of the National Service Scheme at Wasa Akropong.
Miss Oduro said national service was a call to national duty and urged service personnel to be patriotic, nationalistic and loyal in the discharge of their duty.
Service personnel should feel part of communities to which they were posted, to enable them make a lasting impact on them, she said. Miss Oduro said the district assembly would do everything possible to make their stay in the area profitable and assist them to cope with problems that they might encounter.
She urged the service personnel to help improve conditions in the district, which was a newly created one.
Miss Oduro suggested that more female service personnel would be posted to the district to serve as role models for the girl-child. Mr Stephen Badu, District Coordinator of the National Service Scheme, asked service personnel to work with opinion leaders in communities, where they were posted.
He also advised them to adopt life styles worthy of emulation. Present was Mrs Armstrong Mensah, Board member of the National Service Scheme.
