President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo could have been in danger if someone intended to harm him in the darkness due to poor lighting at the Independence Square in Accra to mark 25 years of the Fourth Republic on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

Organisers of the event seemed to have done a shoddy job as they failed to make arrangements for a lighting system since the programme was intended to end at 7pm.

The lights at the Independence Square couldn’t do much of the trick by brightening the place leaving the entire place in total darkness as night fell.

Ministers, Diplomats, and other dignitaries present were also seated in darkness with no lights upon them. It would have been easier for anyone to commit a crime unnoticed in the darkness.

It will be recalled that prior to the December 2016 elections, the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo was pelted with a stone at an NPP rally in the Klorttey Korle constituency in Accra by an unidentified person as he addressed the residents in the area.

While addressing the party enthusiasts in the area, urging them to vote for the NPP’s parliamentary aspirant for the area, Philip Addison, he was compelled to pause his delivery, turning to complain to those beside him on the platform that someone had hit him with a stone.

“Someone just threw a stone at me, why?” he asked. But he quickly resumed his delivery, saying: “No problem, this is our politics in Ghana.
