Ho, Aug. 4, GNA - Government is expected to launch a National Youth Policy

that is expected to give focus and direction to the country's youth, on August 12, this year.

It also seeks to promote, improve and maintain an enlightened and progressive standard for youth development and encourage active public interest in youth development work.

Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, announced this at a Youth Dialogue Forum organized by the Regional Youth Council in Ho on Wednesday.

It was on the theme: "Building regional capacities for youth mobilization and effective coordination in a better Ghana agenda."

Mr Kodobissah expressed the hope that the policy would safeguard the future of the country's youth and called on young people to study and take advantage of such policy and develop their potentials.

Delivering an address on behalf of the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kodobissah, said youthful stage was transitional and advised young people to be disciplined in order to become responsible leaders.

Young people at the forum were happy that government would at long last out-door the policy to give direction to addressing issues affecting them.

Mr Victor Kwawukume, a youth activist, observed that the delay in coming out with the Policy had "locked the future of the nation some years behind".

He said that it was time politicians stopped toying with the future of the nation and attached seriousness to things of national interest.

Majority of participants asked questions concerning educational infrastructure in the region and expressed apprehension about the take off of a state university in the region.
