Nduom assists Edina Omanhene's palace and KEEA education Directorate

Elmina, Mar. 01, GNA- Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential candidate of the Convention People's Party, (CPP) on Friday donated items worth GH¢3,500 to the Edina Omanhene's palace and the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Education Directorate.

The items include 100 bags of cement, 10 trips of sand, cheque for GH¢1,500 for the purchase of roofing sheets, a refrigerator and a television set.

Dr Nduom, who presented the items at Elmina, said the building materials were his widow's mite for the completion of the building of the Edina Omanhene's Palace, which was started in 1993 and is about 75 percent complete, whiles the television set and refrigerator are to support the district best teacher's award.

He said Elmina was a big city and needed a befitting palace considering the number of dignitaries, who visit the Omanhene after touring some of the tourist's sites in the area.

Dr Nduom pledged to mobilize more funds to ensure the early completion of the palace, and stressed that he who would organize a fund raising programme in Accra towards the palace and called on all citizens of Elmina both at home and in abroad to contribute meaningfully towards the completion of the Omanhene's palace.

He described education as the key to development and stressed that he would do everything in this capacity to enhance teaching and learning in the district, and that, for a start, each of the four traditional areas in the district would be provided with a community library. "Work has already started in Komenda", he said, and appealed to the remaining three traditional areas to make land available for their community libraries.

Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, Omanhene of the Edina traditional area, who received the items, thanked Dr Nduom for the gifts and said the donation would enhance the early completion of the palace.

He appealed to citizens living outside the area to endeavour to visit the town regularly and contribute their quota towards its development and not only when there are funerals or festivals. Mrs Rosemund Abrah, KEEA District Director of Education thanked Dr Nduom, and said the donation would help her outfit to organize this year's best teacher award's day in the district.
