Apam (C/R), May 2, GNA - Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, presidential candidate of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has reassured that the Party will conduct peaceful campaign in the run up to the upcoming general election to ensure that none of the nation's assets is sacrificed on the alter of political expediency.

Dr Nduom said the nation was founded by the CPP; therefore, the Party would not do anything to destroy assets its forerunners had sacrificed their blood and toils to build.

Addressing a mini rally at Apam, Dr Nduom noted with concern the influx of foreign fishing trawlers in Ghanaian waters, saying they were destroying the nation's marine resources rendering the local fishing industry unprofitable.

He said when given the mandate, a CPP government will arrest the situation to safeguard the livelihood of local fishermen. He said measures would be implemented to prop up the fishing industry, adding one such action needed was to remove middlemen from the sale of premix fuel to fishermen.

Dr Nduom described the CPP as "dwuma wura," meaning, job creator and appealed to the youth to vote massively for the Party for a better future.

He assured the youth that a government of CPP under his leadership would bring back their lost hope, culminating in their migration under difficult conditions to other countries.

Dr Nduom deplored what described as "double standard" of the New Patriotic Party, saying at one point it held that governments do not create jobs, but at the same was instituting President's Special Initiatives and wondered what the initiatives were meant for. He called on the electorate to reject the NPP and the National Democratic Congress because they had nothing new to offer the nation. 2 May 08
