Nduom blocked CPP, PNC merger - Dr Mahama

A former presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Dr. Edward Mahama has blamed Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom for preventing the merger between the PNC and the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

“There were individuals within the CPP who didn’t want the unity and I would say it publicly…Nduom is one of them. In 2008 I actually volunteered and said let’s put the presidential ticket for the Nkrumahist parties together, but he [Nduom] didn’t want it,” Mahama told Kafui Dey, host of the Morning Starr Monday on Starr 103.5FM.

Dr. Mahama added “Nduom didn’t want it and he later left and formed his party”.

The leaders of the two main Nkrumahist parties have on several occasions, made noise about their intentions to form a single party, but in all cases the merger talks have come to naught.

The surgeon also accused the NPP and the NDC of scheming to prevent the merger of the two Nkrumahist parties by deliberating hijacking some key members of the CPP and the PNC.

“NPP, NDC don’t want it to happen, you know what they did with Freddie Blay, they hijacked him…he was one of the leaders now he is NPP vice Chairman”.

Dr. Mahama also hinted that it is likely that he might return to lead the PNC ahead of the 2016 elections due to excessive pressure on him by some members of his party.
