MURDER OF BENAZIR BHUTTO

The Nduom for President 08 Campaign Office wishes to console the family of the late Benazir Bhutto and the people of Pakistan for the murder of the former Prime Minister of the country.

We wish to condemn this act in the strongest terms possible. It is not up to any human being to take the life of another with such impunity. This is not the way to silence one’s political opponents in the 21st Century. The rule of law, multi-party democracy and the use of the ballot box – these are the ways of today. It is unfortunate that in today’s Pakistan, there could be a repeat of what the Bhutto family has suffered in the past. It is our hope that her death will not be in vain and that even as the people grieve, they can find strength and new resolve to work together to fight against terrorism, poverty and respect life – even that of political and religious opponents.

We in Ghana must work for peace, tolerance and unity. Politics is meant for positive end. Competition must strengthen the nation, not tear us apart and weaken our national fabric. We must all learn from the shocking and unfortunate news from Pakistan.
