Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom is the right president Ghana will never have, financial analyst Sydney Casely-Hayford has said.
“I’m a big fan of PPP [Progressive People’s Party]. I think Papa Kwesi Nduom is the president that this country will never have.
“He should be the right person to guide this country forward, but unfortunately he won’t have it because the groundswell that they need to do it is not going to come very easily and overnight,” Mr Casely-Hayford said Saturday April 30.
Dr Nduom, a successful businessman, contested the presidential elections in 2008 on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
The founder of Groupe Nduom, which owns banks, media houses and numerous business interests, later resigned from the CPP and former his own party, PPP, on which he contested for the presidency again in 2012 but lost just as in 2008.
Dr Nduom is currently on a campaign towards forging a coalition of opposition parties to put forward a united front against the governing National Democratic Congress ahead of the November general elections.
Mr Casely-Hayford said although the PPP is making some impact, ascending to the presidency will be a tall order for Dr Nduom. “They are making some headway, but it hasn’t been easy and it’s still not easy,” he told Umaru Amdu Sanda on Citi FM’s news analysis programme The Big Issue.
“I think we have missed many opportunities and I think all we need now is a dedicated leader, who can be decisive enough,” Mr Casely-Hayford added.
