Nduom submits to medical examination

Nduom Election

Mon, 5 Nov 2012 Source: PPP Communications Directorate

The Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People's Party, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom will on Monday storm the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination. The move is in fulfillment of Dr. Nduom's pledge to have his health status examined and published in pursuance to the running of transparent government and demonstrating leadership.

This bold leadership initiative demonstrates Dr. Nduom's commitment to deliver on all his promises. This kind of transparent and incorruptible leadership is absent in Ghanaian politics and Dr. Nduom and the PPP will provide that when given the opportunity to serve the country from January 2013.

The Korle Bu visit will be followed by a press conference a few days later to publish all documents relating to the payment of all his taxes and assets declaration. This is to demonstrate his reparedness to fight corruption by taking practical steps and NOT take refuge in legalities and constitutional provisions.

We wish to remind all the other presidential candidates and their spokespersons who refer us to the constitutional provisions on assets declaration that we are fully aware of those provisions but we have gone a step further in the fight against corruption. We believe they must emulate our example of leadership.

The PPP wishes to remind all the other presidential candidates to take the PPP's Corruption Challenge very seriously since the Ghanaian electorate are closely monitoring their responses to them.

For the avoidance of doubt, we reproduce the corruption challenge for the benefit of all. Dr. Nduom and the PPP will do the following:

-To introduce amendments to the 1992 Constitution that will make three critical changes for progress in Ghana. 1) Prohibit Members of Parliament from being appointed as Ministers of State, 2) Return the power for all Ghanaians to directly elect their district, municipal and metropolitan chief executives without any interference from the President and

3) Strengthen the office of District Attorney by separating it from the Ministry of Justice;

-Commit to make public assets, income tax returns, health records and sources of campaign funding before the December 7th elections; and

-Commit to a campaign to prove competence and ability to offer solutions to the nation’s numerous problems.

On the fight against corruption, the others must put up or shut up!

We are Awake!

Kofi Asamoah-Siaw National Secretary, PPP
