Tarkwa (W/R), Sept. 8, GNA - Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Convention People's Party (CPP) presidential aspirant, has called on supporters of the Party not to engage in politics of insults with their opponents. He said rather, they should woo others into their fold in order to beef up their numbers because victory of the party depends on the number of faithful supporters on its roll.

Dr Nduom was speaking during the election of CPP executive for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency at Tarkwa on Saturday. He said after Dr Kwame Nkrumah, successive leaders also played their part in the development of the nation and it was now the turn of CPP.

He said urged members of the CPP to unite and conduct a vigorous campaign, devoid of acrimony and petty internal squabbles. "We should not wash our dirty linen and dry it outside". He regretted that certain projects initiated by Dr Kwame Nkrumah could not be continued because events had changed in the course of time, citing the Komenda Sugar Factory site where buildings have sprung up in areas reserved for irrigation.

Dr Nduom said Dr Nkrumah's general principles such as maintaining one's dignity as a Ghanaian in his own country, and not in a foreign land, would be upheld when CPP wins power. Touching on his appointment as a Minister under the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr Nduom said it was a decision approved by the CPP Central Committee under the chairmanship of Mr Felix Amoah. He held that he was invited to help the government with his rich experiences.

Dr Nduom, who said he had given out 10 pick-up vehicles for the CPP's campaign towards next year's elections, appealed to every party supporter to help provide logistics for the running of the Party. He dismissed reports that he was forming a new political party, saying he was only forming a movement to reorganize and strengthen the structures of the CPP at the grassroots.

Mr Samuel Gorden Etroo, Western regional chairman of the CPP, who swore-in the Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency executives, urged them to be selfless in carrying out their duties.

He advised them not to be masters but servants of the people, adding, the aim of the Party is to win the election and have the opportunity to serve the people.

Mr Etroo said it was unfortunate that state-owned enterprises, established by Dr Nkrumah had been sold to foreigners. Mr Martin Alex Ngro Cudjoe, was elected chairman while Mr J.K Owusu Ansah, won the position of first vice chairman and Nana K. Essien, second vice chairman. Mr. Ebenezer Abakah was elected secretary with Mr Joseph Sampson as his assistant. The rest are Nana Kwabena Gyan, Education secretary, Mr Alex Mensah, Youth organizer and Fred Kofi Andoh Baidoo, assistant Youth Organiser. Nana Adiyee Twum Barimah was elected women organizer and Ms Agnes Ackah as her assistant.
