Need for unity among people from Brong Ahafo

Sunyani (B/A) Nov. 28, GNA - Mr. Joseph Henry Mensah, Senior Minister, last weekend called for unity among people from the Brong Ahafo.

He said the people should avoid enmity among themselves and instead work hard and assist the Government achieve its socio-economic development goals to relieve the citizenry of hardships. Mr Mensah was speaking at a durbar in Sunyani to climax the month long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri 11 as Omanhene of Sunyani traditional area. The celebration was under the theme, "Sanitation - A key to sustainable socio-economic development."


The Senior Minister commenting on the rivalry that existed between the Convention People's Party (CPP) and the United Party (UP) in the past when they fought among themselves over differences said "such crude politicking has given way to scientific democratic governance." He therefore called on Ghanaians to protect their hard-won democratic independence.


Mr. Mensah on behalf of President John Agyekum Kufour, the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council and the Sunyani Municipal Assembly presented four bottles of Schnapps, a cow and 10 million cedis to the Sunyani traditional council.

Nana Nkrawiri expressed appreciation to the Government for the developmental projects being executed at Sunyani and appealed for improvement in the facilities at the Bosoma Market including the construction of an ultra-modern shopping mall.


He called for an expansion of the Abesim Water Project to cater for the increasing population of Sunyani and its environs.


Nana Nkrawiri said the Centre for National Culture (CNC) at Sunyani should be rehabilitated as well as the completion of the southern end of the Sunyani Ring Road.
