Negotiating with a “dead goat” is difficult – Sir John

Former NPP Chief Scribe Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie says he sees no reason why President Mahama should take a hard stance on the conditions of service demands by doctors.

The Ghana Medical Association declared a strike action a week ago after their negotiations with government hit a deadlock and have threatened to resign en masses if their demands are not met.

But President John Dramni Mahama had indicated clearly that he will not spend a cedi outside the 2014-2015 budget on unplanned expenditure.

Meaning, the doctors might not get to see their demands met. But that has been rubbished by NPP’s Sir John.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show “Ghana Montie”, Sir John tagged the president as a “disrespectful” person due to his “dead goat syndrome”.

He debunked claims that the NPP is behind the doctors strike, but rather – “I feel sorry for the striking doctors”.

“If you are negotiating with a dead goat, what will you expect from him [President Mahama]? He asked – adding – “that will be difficult’.

He, however, pleaded with the striking doctors to at least help the – “poor who cannot afford expensive private hospitals” by returning to the hospitals.
