The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has condemned nepotism in Ghana’s public space.
He is of the view that 'family and friends' derail national development and must not be encouraged in any way.
To Otumfuo Osei Tutu, opportunities must be given to individuals regardless of their family relations or tribal relations.
Rather, focus should be placed on people who are capable of getting the work done.
“We have shown the Ashanti Kingdom that we accept everyone regardless of their tribe. We have over the years existed with people from other places.
"I know that organizations in my kingdom do not employ people based on their tribal relations but rather they focus on competence,” he said.
“I say this because everyone needs to know that in the Ashanti Kingdom, we love people and we accept everyone regardless of their background. This is something we have been doing for years,” he added.
