Two MTTD officers were seen filling potholes on a busy highway
Netizens have reacted after two officers of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service were captured on video manually filling potholes on a highway.
The officers, dressed in their MTTD uniforms, were seen repairing potholes while directing traffic along the busy road.
In a video shared on X, one officer was seen pushing a wheelbarrow loaded with sand to fill the potholes, while the other used a shovel to level the surface.
After flattening the sand, they placed the shovel back into the wheelbarrow. One officer then pushed it away as the other intermittently managed traffic flow.
The action appeared aimed at making the affected stretch of the road safer and more motorable for both drivers and pedestrians.

The video has sparked reactions online. While some netizens applauded the officers for going beyond their usual duties to ensure public safety, others questioned whether road repairs fall within their job description.
One netizen indicated that there are a lot of positive side of the police service, where officers are making civilians safe.
“GhPoliceService please thank them for Ghana. We’re seeing a lot more of the good and effective side of you in making civilians safe in almost every way. Thank you,” one user commented.
Another social media user noted that: “Aban papa aba, everybody wants to be involved in building the nation,” another said.
Some also did not like the idea of the police officers fixing potholes on the highway saying these are jobs of the MMDCEs and other relevant authorities to ensure the right thing is done.
“Our Assemblies, MMDCEs, and all relevant road institutions are sleeping. This is not the officer's job and very disgusting,” one user indicated.
Others argued that what the officers are doing is a misplaced priority.
“Misplaced priorities…Is that what they were sent to do? A nation that its youth celebrates mediocrity…sorry but you can’t do the right thing at the wrong time. It makes it wrong,” another also added.

This is so very thoughtful, if we had 100 people in this country who cared. It would be better place. Very inspiring.
