New JSS scores 100 per cent at BECE examination

New Town (B/A), Aug 14, GNA- Osabarima Dotobibi Takyia-Ameyaw II, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, on Thursday advised school children to be disciplined and respect authority.

He said the academic success of every student depends on virtues. The Omanhene was speaking at a reception to honour 29 students of Takyia-Ameyaw Junior Secondary School (JSS) at Techiman, who had 100 per cent passes in the 2003 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with aggregates ranging from 11 to 25.

The chief said land has been released to the school to build permanent structures and a computer centre to be set up with the support of some NGOs and other donors.

He appealed to parents to continue to monitor the progress of their children in school and appealed to the present JSS Two students to emulate the performance of their predecessors.

Mr Bob Donkor, Assistant Director in-charge of Manpower and Development of the Ghana Education Service, said the school has been absorbed into the public system.

Mr Kwao Adjapong, Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), said the committee would work in partnership with the school authorities to enhance its development.

Mr Alfred K. Antwi-Boasiako, Headmaster of the school, expressed appreciation to the chief for his personal contribution to the school's development.
