The Ministry of Roads and Transport in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance and Economic Planning and Interior has initiated proposals for the enactment of a new road Traffic Regulation.
The new regulation, will among others, institute spot fines for specified road traffic offences.
The sector Minister, Dr. Richard Anane announced this at the commissioning of a new branch office of the Mechanical Lloyd Company Limited in Kumasi.
The Minister said the Road Traffic Regulation would control the use of vehicles in order to minimize indiscipline on the roads and make traveling by road safe and less frightening.
According to Anane, Cabinet has already approved the new regulation and very soon, spot fines would be introduced for various traffic offences.
He appealed to Mechanical Lloyd, as partners in the transport industry, to complement efforts of the government in providing safe and efficient transport services to the people.
Mr. Yaw Manu Sarfo, chairman of the company noted that the new office in Kumasi depicted the company's vision of development.
According to him, a total of ?10 billion had been sunk into providing quality customer service.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. S.K. Boafo reiterated government's intention to source for investors to go into direct investment or partnership with local firms to do genuine business.
He mentioned that, while providing the necessary infrastructure for the growth of enterprises, the law had been made to protect everybody to use his entrepreneurial skills to create wealth.
Boafo called on business-minded people to take advantage of the establishment of the Boankra Inland Port to establish more industries to enhance the economy.
