New Vision Radio In Worcester Is One Year Old

New Vision Radio, a Ghanaian Community Radio in Worcester Massachusetts, has celebrated its first anniversary with a call on all Ghanaian entrepreneurs in the diaspora to contribute their quota to the development of Ghana. Dr. George Lamptey who made the call said Ghana has invested in each citizen of the nation and it is time that the citizenry give back part of what the country has helped them to achieve in life for the growth and the development of the country.

Dr. Lamptey made the call at the first anniversary dinner and fundraising ceremony of the radio station in Worcester Massachusetts over the weekend. New Vision Radio was established in April 2012 in Worcester, Massachusetts to educate, inform and entertain the numerous Ghanaian populace in the City of Worcester and its surrounding towns.

The Station which operates on the frequency 103.5FM is also to help promote the Ghanaian business community in the United States of America. It is the third Ghanaian Community radio station to be established in Worcester behind Word Radio 102.9FM and African Beat Radio (ABR) 106.5FM. According to Dr. Lamptey, New Vision Radio has come to the forefront to put words together to ensure that Ghana moves ahead among the rest of the African Countries in the Worcester County.

Dr. Lamptey advised both presenters and listeners of the station as well as contributors to programs and callers not to allow politics to divide them and tear them apart but urged them to forge ahead in unity to promote Ghana in the USA.

Pastor Joseph Otu Siaw, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Station observed that the radio station has grown immensely since its establishment and continues to grow.

He pointed out that New Vision Radio is affiliated with NASPA Radio in UK and Peace FM in Ghana to share programs and ideas to ensure that the many Ghanaians in the Diaspora become abreast with what is going on in their native country, Ghana. Pastor Siaw commended the business community in Worcester, the numerous listeners as well as the numerous presenters for sustaining the station for the past one year and urged them not to relent on their efforts by put in their maximum best to ensure the sustainability of the station in the future.

Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation were presented to all the presenters. Alfred Kwame Otuo-Mensah was adjudged the best presenter for 2012/2013 whilst the Newspaper Review Program hosted by Alfred Kwame Otuo-Mensah was adjudged the best program for 2012/2013.

There were music performances by Nana Yaa Gyamfua, Akosua Boga and Rasbobo, an up and coming musician in Worcester.

In a related development, during a soccer gala competition earlier on as part of the activities marking the anniversary, Worcester Kotoko beat Worcester Hearts of Oak 2-0 and went on to beat a select side of presenters from all three radio stations 2-1 to lift the trophy at stake.
