New Yaa-Naa to be outdoored on January 18, 2019

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has revealed that accredited Dagbon elders will on January 18, 2019, consult the traditional oracles for the selection of a new Yaa-Naa, for Dagbon, MyNewsGh.com reports.

In a statement released to clear the air on challenges resulting from sporadic shooting ahead of the performance of the funeral of the late, Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II, the Chairman of the committee of eminent chiefs stated that the process has not been halted as reported by a section of the media.

The King anticipates that things go as planned indicating that the Kampakuya Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai will perform the circumambulation to complete the funeral process on Friday 18th January 2019 before the accredited elders enter the sacred room to choose a New Yaa Naa.

“On Thursday. 17th January 2019. Kampakuya Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai will perform the circumambulation to complete the funeral process on Friday 18th January 2019. On the evening of Friday, 18th January 2019 the accredited elders of Dagbon, will enter the sacred seclusion to consult the traditional oracles for the selection of a new Ya-Naa”, the statement added.

This is to inform the general public that, as part of the peace process towards the final resolution of the chieftaincy crisis in Dagbon the Committee of Eminent Chiefs chaired by Ills Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Asantehene wishes to assure the public that:

1. The Final funeral riles of the late Yaa-Naa Andani Yakubu, II is continuing in accordance with the road map.

2. On Sunday, 13th January 2019, all customary process will continue to pave way for the performance of the funeral by the Elders of the Andani royal family.

3. On Thursday. 17th January 2019. Kampakuya Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai will perform the circumambulation to complete the funeral process on Friday 18th January 2019.

4. On the evening of Friday, 18th January 2019 the accredited elders of Dagbon, will enter the sacred seclusion to consult the traditional oracles for the selection of a new Yaa-Naa.

5. The Committee has further directed that the Northern Regional Security Council provides adequate security to facilitate the smooth performance of the funeral by the Andani Royal family and the selection of Ya-Naa by the elders of Dagbon.

The Committee appeals to the media and the general public to seek clarification on matters concerning Dagbon Peace Process from the committee through the Northern Regional Security Council before going to press.

It is the hope of the committee of eminent chiefs that all concerned will fully cooperate to ensure the successful conclusion of the madman and to pave way for the restoration of peace In Dagbon.
