Reverend Frank Lartey Jnr., Director, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, National Youth Authority, has expressed optimism that the review of the National Youth Policy (NYP) document would adequately address challenges being faced by the youth in the country.

He said concerns in the 2010 policy document like voluntarism and ICT had changed over the years, likewise education where the focus now was on technical and vocational training, which were being handled in the reviewed document.

Rev. Lartey said this at a Regional Consultation Meeting on the National Youth Policy Review in Ho.

He said under the current policy, the document would be reviewed every five years to keep it geared to the times.

Mr Perry Okudzeto, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, said the revised document needed to be realigned towards government's developmental agenda for the youth, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He said government was putting in place measures to ensure that the youth in the country realised their full potential.

Mr Maxwell Blagodzi, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, said the youth were the future of the nation and needed to be given the enabling atmosphere to develop and explore opportunities.

The National Youth Policy (NYP) was developed in 2010 as a guide for stakeholders in the implementation of policies and programmes for youth development.
