The father of the baby, Baba Shaibu, recounting the ordeal in a JoyNews interview, described the moment he was informed of the disappearance as traumatic.
“Around 1:15, a call came informing me about my wife’s delivery. I have two wives and the smallest wife works here [hospital]. This morning, I told my small wife that her sister has given birth to a baby boy, so she went to the hospital and later returned with receipts of medicines and injections I needed to buy for the baby before discharge,” he said.
Shaibu explained that after purchasing the required medicines, he returned home, only to receive a distress call hours later.
“Around 10 o’clock, I was sitting with my colleagues when my sister called me, asking me to run to the hospital. When I arrived, I was told that somebody had stolen the baby,” he added.
The family has since reported the incident to the police. The situation has sparked outrage in the community, with residents demanding that the hospital take responsibility for the missing child.
Police officers have visited the facility to calm residents, but as of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released regarding the incident or the progress of investigations.
