Accra, May 26, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday presented 10 newly designated Ambassadors and High Commissioners with their Letters of Credence at the Castle Osu.
They included Mr Dominic E Aboagye, Ambassador to Guinea, Mr Samuel Dadey, Ambassador to Brazil, Mr Kwabena Baah Doudu, Ambassador to Switzerland, Nana Owusu Nsiah, Ambassador to Israel and Mrs Nana Bema Kumi, Ambassador to Belgium.
The rest were Nana Kwadwo Seinti, High Commissioner to Malaysia, Dr J B Heymann, High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Grant O Kesse, Ambassador to Germany, Mrs Cecelia Gyan Amoah, Ambassador to Cuba, and Mr Annan Cato, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK).
They had earlier taken the Oath of Allegiance, Office and Secrecy, administered by the President. President Kufuor asked them to be loy al to the government and honest in helping to push forward its vision and policies. He said they should work full time to support the government to achieve its economic development target, adding that their attention and priority should always be on what would be of economic benefit to the nation.
Additionally, he said, they should focus on protecting national security, telling them that security was a critical function of diplomacy.
President Kufuor also advised them to truly represent all Ghanaians and see to their welfare so that they would have trust and confidence in their offices and turn to them in joy and difficulty. Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Nana Seinti said they had accepted the offer to serve the nation with humility and sincerity. He said they were going out to be the nose, eyes and ears of Ghana, working to promote the national interest.
"Save ill health, we shall pursue the business of Ghana", he added.
