Newly-trained teachers refuse postings to Bole District

INVESTIGATIONS BY The Chronicle have revealed that 13 teachers sponsored by the Bole District Assembly have absconded and refused to accept postings to the Bole District. The practice has discouraged the assembly from further supporting needy students at the tertiary level.

According to an assembly source, efforts made by the assembly to trace the whereabouts of the said teachers have failed as the Regional Directorate of Education, which did the postings, is not co-operating with the assembly in its bid to trace them.

The executive committee of the assembly at a meeting recently suggested the strengthening of all bonds by the district assembly on all teacher trainees to avert similar occurrence in the future.

The committee agreed that students and teacher trainees sponsored by the assembly be properly bonded to enable them return to serve their people after training.

The members also suggested that special arrangements be made with the Ministry of Health to institute proper bonding for interested nursing trainees who want to be sponsored by the assembly to offset the acute shortage of nurses facing the district.
