Newmont Ghana has donated items worth GH¢ 30,000 to four non-governmental organisations supporting the underprivileged in the society.

The items include furniture, curtains, and variety of kitchenware, assorted electrical appliances and bathroom wares.

The four beneficiary institutions are United Way Ghana (UWG), Compassion Rehabilitation Centre, The Country-Side Orphanage all in Accra, and Village of Hope in Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.

Speaking at a ceremony in Accra, Mr Franklin Nuamah, Deputy Regional Manager, Support Services at Newmont Ghana, said the donation was part of Newmont’s Corporate Social Responsibility and aimed at improving the lives of the less privileged.

“As a company, helping the underprivileged is very much in keeping with the value of demonstrating leadership in social responsibility,” Mr Nuamah said.

Mr Jonathan Akuamoah, Executive Director of UWG, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended Newmont Ghana for the continuous support.

He acknowledged the immense support Newmont has offered the organisation since its association with the corporate entity in 2006.

Mr Akuamoah said: “This donation will go a long way to help the children in the various orphanages to also enjoy decent lives.”

Last year, the company also donated a vehicle and an amount of GH¢120,000 to UWG through its Workplace Giving Programme dubbed: “Boa Me Na Me Mmoa Wo,” which is aimed at helping the underprivileged in the society.
