Kumasi, Sept. 25, GNA - The Nhyiaeso constituency of the NPP has described the recommendations made by CHRAJ on the Minister of Transport, Dr Richard Anane, as bogus and without any basis. It said the entire recommendations were as a result of "shady hands, who want to see the demise of the hard working Minister as a politician just to achieve their selfish aims".

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Saturday, Mr George Kofi Adjei, constituency chairman, warned that "if any group of people compel Dr Anane to resign, the constituency executive will also compel him to resign as an MP", adding that, they would in turn resign en-bloc. He said the Nhyiaeso constituency of the party had every reason to believe that there was a sinister motive behind the CHRAJ report.

This, he said was evidenced in the massive crusade mounted by the "statesman" newspaper, its editor and owners to force Dr Anane to resign and asked whether the owners of the "statesman" had any special interest in the matter. Mr Adjei noted that, from the pronouncements and actions by the editor and owners of the "statesman", coupled with the circumstances under which the CHRAJ report was authored and released, "one could see clearly that the "statesman" and its owners have some agenda".

"One of such agenda is the continuous destruction of respectable personalities like Professor Mike Oquaye, Professor Frimpong Boateng and now Dr Anane". He pointed out that, Dr Anane, whose portfolio controls one third of the national budget was seen by CHRAJ as not corrupt and that pointed to how the nation needed him.

Mr Adjei therefore, appealed to President Kufuor to retain Dr Anane to continue with the good work he was doing to improve the nation's transportation sector.
