Accra, June 14, GNA - A 38-year-old Nigerian trader, who was standing trial at the Greater Accra Regional Tribunal for importing and possessing narcotic drugs without lawful excuse, was on Monday sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment with hard labour. Margaret Etim Sunday, who expelled 60 pellets of cocaine, pleaded not guilty. However, at Monday's sitting, she changed her plea to guilty and the Court presided over by Mr Justice Frank Manu convicted her accordingly. The case of prosecuting Mr Frederick Boamah of the Attorney - General's Department was that on January 29, Sunday arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on board a United Arab Emirates flight. The Prosecution said personnel from the Narcotics Control Board (NCB) on duty at KIA, after inspecting Sunday's travelling documents, became suspicious of her behaviour and trailed her outside the Airport. The Prosecutor said Sunday joined a waiting taxicab but she was arrested and handed over to the Police. She was sent to the 37 Military Hospital and an ex-ray scan conducted on her stomach revealed pellets suspected to contain cocaine. Sunday was kept under Police observation where she expelled 60 pellets from her stomach.
