The Accra Regional Tribunal chaired by His Honour Justice Adu Gyamfi has remanded Frank Enyi, a 40-year-old Nigerian Businessman based at Teshie Nungua in Accra into prison custody. Enyi was charged with causing harm to his wedded wife, Mrs. Stella Enyi several times, even though he had been warned by the same Tribunal.
Inspector Mary Agbozo of the Women and Juvenile Unit of the Ghana Police Service said Frank and Stella are married, have four children and stay at Teshie Nungua together with their children and a house help, Emmanuel.
She said there has been a series of misunderstandings and curses that has marred the relationship. She said last year at about 9am, Frank who did not sleep at home the previous night, as has been his practice, went to the house and started giving out instructions.
He instructed Emma, the house help to leave whatever he was doing and wash his car.
Emma who was by then sweeping their main hall was advised by Stella to finish sweeping the hall before he washes the car. Frank, not satisfied with what Stella said quarrelled with her. During the quarrel, he battered her and inflicted several wounds on her on her face and body.
Fed up with the frequent battering she normally receives at the slightest squabble, she reported to the Kpeshie Divisional Police who transferred the case to WAJU where she was issued with a Medical Report form to attend Hospital for treatment and examination.
The Medical Report signed by Doctor Sammy Otu Nyame of the Police Hospital reads: “ cane marks at the back, right bicep, infra orbital haematoma of the left eye, left bicep and lower arm.”
Based upon the Medical Report, Frank was arrested and arraigned before the Tribunal where he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail. He was warned to desist from beating Stella.
Just last week, Frank again brutalized Stella when he returned from town and met her absence. She had no option than to rush to WAJU and made a report and he was arrested. He has therefore been remanded into prison custody to reappear at a later date.
