Nii Borketey Ansuade, Baatsonaa Mantse, on Sunday received the traditional meal of the Gas (corn) from Oyibi on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Nungua Traditional Area.

The ceremony is to mark activities for this year’s Homowo, popularly known as Kpledzoo festival.

At Baatsonaa, where he received the traditional meal, Nii Ansuade performed special customary rites after which the corn was subsequently sent to Nungua where Numo Borketey Laweh Tsuru, Gborbu Wulomo or Nungua Shitse concluded the customary rites.

This was followed by the sprinkling of the traditional meal throughout the Nungua Township.

Nii Ansuade used the occasion, which was graced by Nii King Tackie Adama Latse, Ga Mantse and Nii Ayibontey II, Gbese Mantse, to call for a peaceful celebration.

The Nungua Shitse is expected to announce the date for the Homowo celebration.**
