Nii Armah Ashitey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Korley Clottey in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday promised to provide skills training programmes to make the youth in the constituency self-reliant and prosperous.

He said he has embarked on a support programme for the youth in sewing and would broaden it to masonry, carpentry among other things if given another opportunity to serve the people of the constituency.

Nii Ashitey who was launching his campaign at Adabraka in the constituency said he has been in the trenches with the people and knew that they would give him another mandate to discharge his duties in the constituency.

He said: “The devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know. And when you have something, you don’t normally value it until you lose it. “

The MP said although there are attempts to pollute the minds of his constituents to vote against him in the forthcoming primaries, his performance on the ground would prove those people wrong as the constituency believed in his performance.

“For National Democratic Congress to retain power in the 2016 general election, we need experienced and competent people like me to carry the party on our shoulders in all the processes,” he added.

He said his second position on the ballot paper for the November 7 primary is not a coincidence but a well-designed plan by God to give him a second chance in the constituency and his second chance to subsequently win the seat.

Nii Ashitey said he had so far registered more than 5,000 people in the constituency under the National Health Insurance Scheme and promised to continue to support the people to live decent lives.

The MP said he would ensure that more households acquire toilet facilities to enhance the sanitation issues in the constituency in particular and the country in general.

Mr Mohammed Bashiru Constituency Chairman thanked the people of the constituency for coming out in their numbers and told them to make decisions that would impact positively on the area and not for individual gains.

He promised that the conduct of activities in the constituency would be done in the supreme interest of the party.

Earlier on the MP went on a float on some principal streets of the Accra Metropolis amidst drumming and dancing by party faithful.
