Nineteen children taken to hospital after eating fruit

Nineteen children from the Teteman L.A. SDA Kindergarten in the Jasikan District were on Tuesday taken to the Hohoe Government Hospital with diarrhoea and vomiting after eating a seed suspected to be poisonous.

Miss Enyonam Klu, a teacher, told hospital authorities that she found the children ill during the afternoon break and when she questioned them they showed her the seed they had eaten.

Miss Barbara Afekua, Senior Nursing Officer at the hospital, confirmed the story and said the children, aged between four and six years, were responding to treatment.
