Nitiwul must apologise to Mahama - Mogtari

Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, has called on Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul to apologise to Mr Mahama for unjustifiably accusing him of occupying a property belonging to the military.

Mrs Mogtari’s demand for an apology follows a press conference by the East Dadekotopon Development Trust (EDDT) exonerating the former president of occupying any land belonging to the military.

Secretary to the Trust, Nii Yemoh pointed out that “the land is pure and simply in the Trust’s title certificate.”

He said the Defence Minister was peddling falsehood because the Trust is the owner of the land after a court ruling against the military, and reiterated that: “It is not military land; [even] the Burma Camp land is an old airport land acquired in 1944".

Mrs Mogtari who was speaking in an interview on Joy FM on Tuesday, 12 December, said Mr Nitiwul ought to have conducted his checks before making disparaging comments against Mr Mahama.

Mr Nitiwul had asked Mr Mahama to vacate what he considered a “disputed” military land when he addressed the press last week.

“I am advising [ex-President Mahama] that if I were him, I will not live there,” he said while addressing journalists at the Meet the Press series on Thursday, 7 December 2017.

“It’s not good. Within two years we sold every piece of land, over 300 acres of land, to individuals,” he added.
