Madam Stella Amoatemaa, Nkoranza South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has commended the government for the provision of a number of educational infrastructure, to promote quality education in the country.

She cited Government’s efforts in launching the Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP), aimed at improving upon existing facilities and general conditions of the newly-established and deprived senior high schools (SHSs) in rural communities.

Madam Amoatemaa gave the commendation during an address of parents, teachers and students of Kwabre SHS, prior to the presentation of 200 double-decker iron-beds and 400 students’ mattresses to the institution, at Akuma in the Nkoranza South Municipality of Brong-Ahafo Region.

The MCE announced that 28 selected brilliant but needy students of the school have been awarded scholarships under the SEIP project.

Mr Godfred Axolu, Municipal Director of Education emphasised the need for the students to handle the items properly to ensure their longer lifespan.

Mr Axolu expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of the community for their efforts in starting the school to promote education of the youth and urged them to continue with the self-help spirit to complement the efforts of government in developing the school.

Mr Samuel Yaw Okyere, Headmaster of the school reported that the academic entity obtained 100 per cent at the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 academic years’ results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, and expressed the hope of maintaining the record in subsequent years.

Mr Okyere however complained about absence of electricity and potable water at the school’s new site and therefore called on the Municipal Assembly to help reverse the situation.
