Nkoranza South District Assembly seeks to promote education

Nkoranza (B/A) Sept. 23, GNA – Nkoranza South District Assembly has planned to construct teachers’ bungalows in deprived communities to promote education in the area.

The Assembly would also build office for circuit supervisors to enhance monitoring and supervision.

Mr. Ebenezer Amoah, the District Development Planning Officer, announced at a meeting organised by the District Directorate of Education at Nkoranza for stakeholders in education.

They discussed how to improve the standard of education in the district.

He said the Assembly placed high premium on the education of the youth, and it had built classroom blocks, and provided furniture in almost all schools in the district.

Mr Amoah said that the Assembly was supporting some brilliant but needy Junior High School students up to the tertiary level.

Madam Phillipa Banson, the District Director of Education, explained that created awareness about the roles and responsibilities of teachers, parents, the community and children in promoting education.

He called on Parent/Teacher Associations to support school authorities to enforce discipline among children to promote teaching and learning.

Madam Banso commended teachers in the district for their hard work in the last academic year that culminated in the district scoring 73 percent in the 2010/2011 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and urged them to maintain the spirit and redouble efforts.

Nana Okofo Agyapong III, Adontenhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area who presided advised parents to be very responsible in the up-bringing and education of their children by providing them with their basic needs to sustain their interest in schools.

He entreated teachers to live above reproach since they were role models in for the youth.
