Jessica Boahemaa, the six-year-old Kindergarten pupil of Nkoranza Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) who was knocked down by a Yutong bus at Nkoranza has died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Nana Takyi Baffoe II, Odikro of Tom and family Spokesman told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza on Thursday that the little girl died on Wednesday while on admission.

The staff and pupils of New Paradise International School at Anloga-Sobolo, a suburb of Kumasi, were traveling to the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary in the Nkoranza North District when their Yutong bus knocked down the girl.

Jessica was transferred to KATH, after treatment at the Nkoranza Saint Theresa’s Catholic Hospital.

She was walking along the road to school when the incident happened.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu, Nkoranza Municipal Police Commander, who ordered the driver, Seidu Hudu, to abandon the trip after the incident, told GNA that the driver and the owner had been invited by the police to assist in investigations.

He ordered that the vehicle should be inspected by officials of the Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority at Techiman.

Hudu told the GNA at Nkoranza that there were 60 pupils and nine teachers on board.

Mr Ernest Achiri Ayamga, a teacher of the school, who accompanied the pupils, was unsure whether the school authorities sought for permission from the Asokwa Sub-Metropolitan Directorate of Education in the Kumasi Metropolis before embarking on the trip.
