Nkoranza (B/A) June 24, GNA- Members of the Nkoranza District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region on Thursday endorsed Mr James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, a 55-year-old tutor of Prempeh college in Kumasi as the new District Chief Executive. Forty-five of the 54 members voted to confirm the President's nominee and nine voted against him in the polls that were conducted by the Regional Electoral Commission.
Nana Kwadwo Seinti, the Regional Minister, expressed appreciation for the peaceful manner in which the assembly members conducted themselves during the voting and commended them for respecting the views of President Kufuor, saying their decision showed maturity in true democracy.
The Regional Minister asked the members to maintain their unity and cooperative spirit to enable them to initiate development projects to help improve the living standards of the people. Nana Seinti advised Mr Appiah-Awuah to respect the views of the members and to collaborate with the opinion leaders in the to ensure the development of the district.
Mr Adjei Yeboah, Presiding Member, commended the members for confirming Mr Appiah-Awuah's nomination and asked them to support him to enable him to perform his duty effectively. Mr Appiah-Awuah thanked the assembly members for endorsing his nomination and gave the assurance that he would serve the people diligently.
