Nkrumaist Forum Congratulate PNC On Congress

We, an assemblage of Diasporan and local Ghanaians and others of Nkrumaist persuasion constituting the Nkrumaist Internet forum, extend our warm and sincere congratulations to the leadership and rank and file of the People?s National Convention, for the successful and fruitful National Delegates Congress held on Saturday May 29 at the Ghana Trade Fair site, Accra.

We note and applaud the peaceful and dedicated manner that delegates applied to the task of choosing a flagbearer, and to adopting resolutions relating to future elections of party officers and strategies for the coming elections.

We note and applaud the endorsement of Dr Edward Nasigrie Mahama as the PNC flagbearer, acknowledging his continuing decisive and dynamic leadership.

We note and applaud the election of a new Executive of the party which, together with the existing party officers, reflect depth of talent and competence as well as the ethnic diversity of the nation.

We note and applaud the recommitment of the party to the Grand Coalition, and the agreed practical mechanism to see it through, as in adopting the resolution that the elected National Executive Council (NEC) of the Party "determine the level of co-operation with other Nkrumaist parties, or any other political grouping for the forthcoming elections."

We note and applaud Dr Mahama?s recommitment of the party to the FORGOTTEN PEOPLE of Ghana, (the poor, the sick, the physically challenged, the youth, women, the aged, the unemployed, school drop-outs, exploited children), and the need for empowerment of those forgotten people to be spared the cut throat economic rationalism of our times. We believe Dr Mahama's recommitment of the party to the FORGOTTEN PEOPLE of Ghana is true to the calling of Nkrumaism.

On the unity of Nkrumaist parties, we of the Nkrumaist forum have devoted our best efforts in urging total unity of all Nkrumaist parties to regain the moral mantle to champion the interests of the FORGOTTEN PEOPLE in our homeland.

Late last year in a unity letter to all Nkrumaist parties (http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/sil2/r.php?num=1&id=984770&thread=984 770), we wrote in part : ?WE congratulate the leaders and rank and file of the parties that have formed The Grand Coalition and hope that the CPP shall soon join that Coalition"

We therefore welcome the statement of Dr. Mahama per the GNA report of May 29 - "Mahama ready to give up position for Nkrumahist Unity" - that "he was ready to relinquish his position as leader of the party, if it took that to unite the Nkrumaist parties;" that "The PNC stands by the Grand Coalition and is prepared to work out an alliance with the CPP as a first step to building that alternative and eventual unity of the Nkrumaist parties; and that "I am willing, ready and able to make any personal sacrifice, including relinquishing the position of leader to achieve that unity."

We sincerely congratulate the leadership and rank and file of the PNC on the outcomes of the National Delegates Congress as above. We believe those outcomes have positioned the PNC to play an even more dynamic and leading role in the unification of all in the Nkrumaist family, and to spearhead a PNC and Nkrumaist assault in the Nation?s political life on behalf of the FORGOTTEN PEOPLE of our homeland.

We sincerely congratulate the PNC for fulfilling beyond all expectations her Congress theme of "The new Ghana, a mandate for change"
