CONGRATULATORY LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT-ELECT OF GHANA, PROFESSOR JOHN EVANS ATTA MILLS.

FROM THE NKRUMAIST FORUM. Dated this day, January 6, 2009.

Dear President-Elect of The Republic of Ghana,

We the members, executive and the Coordinating Committee of The Nkrumaist Forum, would like to extend our hearty congratulations and best wishes to you and your distinguished party the National Democratic Congress for winning the General Elections of 2008.

We believe that by your election as the President of the Republic of Ghana, the people of Ghana have every cause to rejoice. Change, we believe, has come to Ghana.

We at The Nkrumaist Forum have every confidence that the will, aspirations and hopes of the down-trodden, emasculated and disenfranchised people of Ghana will be materialized, within the tenure of your presidency.

Your predecessor, President John Agyekum Kuffuour, his cabinet and NPP government, seemed to govern with an acute sense of "nobless oblige," which set the ruling and privileged classes wide apart. The poor and the powerless middle and lower class citizens of Ghana were completely marginalized during the ideologically- challenged and inept reign of the last government, resulting in great hardship and suffering. We believe such polarization and classism is unjust and is tantamount to gross misrule.

Needless to say, the power of the ballot has been demonstrated and the people of Ghana have shown that they can rise to the occasion by the exercise of their franchise through the ballot box.

The people of Ghana have placed immense trust in you, your cabinet and your party's ability to promulgate and follow sound economic, political and social policies that will bring the much needed social and economic justice to Ghanaians and their families.

We at The Nkrumaist Forum believe that the franchise and endorsement of Ghanaians have been given to you, our new and dynamic president, in order to give you a chance to prove your mettle as president and chief executive of the nation. Being a conscientious social democrat and technocrat, we believe you will supervise a lasting and dynamic transformation of our society, and firmly establish Ghana as a social democracy where peoples' rights and well being are the priority rather than an after-thought.

May you rule with wisdom and compassion, and may you be guided always by the needs of the masses and their cry for help. May these be reflected in your educational, health and economic policies, geared toward the immediate and radical reforms of job-creation and hardship alleviation. May the rights of workers, the youth, women, children and the disabled be protected under your rule.

May your foreign policy also play a prominent role in Pan-Africanism and the revival of the Non-Aligned Movement. May your administration shape a foreign policy that will reflect the transformation of our country where neo-colonialism and all exploitative aspects of globalisation are resisted by all means. It is time for Ghana to stand up to the global predators. We must seek and pursue policies to restore advantageous terms of trade and international finance. May you play a prominent role aimed at establishing and strengthening the African Union.

Please accept our congratulations again and May God Bless You, the incoming Cabinet, the new Parliament, the National Democratic Congress and the people of Ghana.

We remain the Undersigned on behalf of The Executive and Coordinating Committee: The Nkrumaist Forum.
