No Chief has been legally enstooled in Sunyani - Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II

The Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Council has debunked claims that a successor for the Sunyani stool has been enstooled.

The Sunyani Traditional Council, on Monday, January 6, 2025, reportedly performed all rites to enstool Yaw Agyare as the Chief of Sunyani following the passing of the previous chief in 2023. The enstooled chief, according to the Traditional Council, would be referred to as Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II.

However, speaking to Ark FM in Sunyani, Queen Mother Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II denied these claims, indicating that the process is still in the consultative stage.

She clarified that the Traditional Council has no authority to enstool a chief, stating:

"You people are in the media and have an understanding of how the royal family works. There is nowhere in the world where the Traditional Council enstools someone as chief. They play a role, but that is after the family has selected their choice, and then the person is sent to them for approval."

Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II added that she is currently working with security agencies to ensure peace in Sunyani. She warned that no one should present themselves as the Chief of Sunyani at this time.
