The founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Dr. Christian Kwabena Andrews, widely known as Osofo Kyiriabosom, has made a significant promise to Ghanaians that under his leadership as a president, no Ghanaian would have to pay for electricity.

He pointed out that the high cost of electricity is largely due to the significant energy consumption by factories, along with issues like illegal connections, which further drive up costs for ordinary citizens.

However, Osofo Kyiri-Abosom promised that he would shift electricity costs onto large-scale businesses and factories, allowing domestic users to enjoy free power if elected.

“This system will require companies to pay for power, but domestic users will not. That is why, as part of my plans, I want to construct more companies, and after that, I will start the implementation of free electricity,” he explained.

He questioned why Ghanaians should be burdened with paying for electricity used by minor household appliances, calling it unjustifiable.

He made this promise during the launch of his campaign towards the 2024 general elections.

During the campaign launch, he also introduced Madam Evelyn Serwaa Bonsu as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate at his church at Odorkor in the Greater Accra region.
