House-To-House registration will no longer take place when the voters registration begins later in the year. Eligible voters are, therefore, adviced to ensure that they register at vantage points approved for the exercise. Mr Samuel Salas-Mensah, chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee and MP for Upper West Akim, gave the advice at a fund-raising harvest organized at the weekend by the chiefs and people of Akim Breman, near Kwaabaa, in aid of an electrification project.
Mr. Salas-Mensah did not explain why the house-to-house registration which which had been practised in previous exercises, is to be abolished. He urged non-resident citizens of Akim-Breman and villages within the West Akim District to make it a point to return home and register at the appropriate time to enable the district to register more people.
Mr. Salas-Mensah stressed government's determination to assist all communities in the Upper West Akim and the Awutu/Senya Constituencies earmarked for connection to the national grid before the end of the year.
Mr. Jacob K. Larbie, President of Ayensuako Development Association, who chaired the function described the roads being constructed by the government in the rural areas as a catalyst to the country's economic emancipation.
