Scores of Ghanaians have complained about the lack of money in the country as Christmas approaches.

According to them, “though the yuletide season is one week away there was no sign showing that the season was here with us.”

They attributed the problem to the current economic hardship, unemployment and the erratic energy supply.

The worried Ghanaians who were mostly women made these observations in an exclusive interview with Today at the weekend.

A man who claimed he was a civil servant told this reporter that his monthly salary was woefully inadequate to do shopping for the Christmas and at the same time save some to cater for other needs.

“Civil and public servants are not paid well so the little money they get they have to save it for the future but not to spend it on Christmas since there is no money in the country,” he explained.

A mother of three, Maame Akosua, could not hide her frustration as she blamed the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for worsening the plight of Ghanaians.

According to her, it was sad that many husbands could not buy gifts for their wives let alone children and loved ones due to the prevailing economic hardships.
