Measures have been put in place to ensure the timely release of the District Assemblies Common Fund to boost development at the local level, Mrs Irene Naa Torshie Lartey, the Administrator of the Secretariat has revealed.

She said the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is determined to develop Ghana and, so, would not put hurdles in the way of the release of the funds.

She told Accra100.5FM’s parliamentary correspondent Richard Appiah Sarpong in an interview on Monday, 20 January 2020 that Ghanaians will need to have faith in the Akufo-Addo administration and renew its mandate in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections in order to realise the kind of development the oil-producing West African country needs.

“I want to assure all Ghanaians that the measures have been put in place to ensure that the Common Funds are disbursed timely.

“Going forward, you won’t hear issues about delays in the release of funds, so, Ghanaians should keep faith with the government, they should renew our mandate in the 2020 elections and we shall all progress to the level we want,” she told Richard Appiah Sarpong.

Apart from the timely disbursement of the DACF, she also said more programmes would be introduced by the government across the country after its mandate has been renewed.

These projects, she said, were pro-poor and targeted at giving rural communities a facelift.

“More pro-poor programmes are coming to support the One District-One Factory, One Village-One Dam and the many social intervention programmes that have been introduced.

“Four more years for Nana Addo,” she said.
