Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye is demanding reports from parliamentarians who participated in various global conferences while the house was on recess.
According to the him, knowledge acquired from these conferences are supposed to build the institution, as such, parliamentarians who fail to submit their report will be exempted from any further travels.
He also instructed chairmen of the various committees to urge their members to produce the reports of all conferences they had attended since January 2018 before the end of the year.
"Parliamentary members are asked to incorporate their knowledge acquired through these international exchanges to the full benefit of the business of this honourable house. Thus, delegations are reminded that reports are required of them after participation in each trip."
“Any clerk that fails to comply with this directive will be sanctioned in the future. I must add that this is also the responsibility of the chairmen of committees should remind members that my office is demanding report of all conferences attended since January 2017 to be filed in my office before the end of year,” he added.
Prof Oquaye further noted that “these committees who do not oblige should not expect any travel any further, the reports are the property of parliament and we should seriously build the Institution we require both hard and soft copy".
